The Folk Research Centre (FRC) today launched the Harold Simmons Folk Academy. Among the guests were Nobel laureate Derek Walcott and Sir Dunstan St. Omer, both students of Harold Simmons. Representatives of the Simmons family were present. The FRC honoured Frank Norville, singer and composer of contemporary kweyol music, for his contribution to the Centre’s teaching programmes and for his overall contribution to St. Lucia’s art and culture. The guest speaker was Dr. Patrick Anthony, founder of the FRC.
