NOTHING NEW, but earlier this evening, a reader expressed her disgust with the conditions at the cemetery in Vigie. While attending a
funeral there, the woman said she and others were “overpowered” by the stench coming from the disturbed graves. The heavy rains have washed away sand and concrete, exposing bones, clothes of deceased persons, parts of coffins and other burial items.

  1. My beautiful country has problems like everywhere else. However, disrespecting the dead is a big "NO! NO!!".And this is a health hazard too. Government has an obligation (legal and moral) to find money and solve this problem.
This grave situation can be solved if the members of the constituencies threaten their REPRESENTATIVES and threaten not vote for them next time - that kind of pressure is what works here in the US- and it will work home too. Everywhere has problems and I agree this one is shameful: we need to show more respect for our dearly departed lucians. Could be your family tomorrow, if not mine? So do what you can: complain to your reps. that is what you paying all that VAT for:essentials, and this is an essential, health and or public, matter!!!!!

  2. Y’all stop acting as if Lucia is the only place this has happened. Also as a born, bred and living in St. Lucia person there is a lot of good coming from Slu. Those Lucians that all of a sudden turn “Uncle Samists”, Lucia was once your home and the question is what are you doing to help “improve” things down here. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust…. to dust we will return.

  4. This is a shame and not bcuz a family can't afford to bury a member in a tomb that doesn't mean they have to treat some1 like that every1 should be respected , and the fool talking bout price of tomb , u sound stupid saying that , that's lack of respect , ppl should really come together and do something about it , instead d government all day increasing taxes making things harder for poor ppl they should find a way to help d poor " look kenny his bell all big off poor ppl taxes that pig he should be placed in 1 of them spots , I'm sure his family and he himself wouldn't apporve of the living arrangements

    • @honestly...Do you have any idea the price of the cheapest funeral back home? If you have nothing good to say, please say nothing at all you despicable conniving idiot.

    • well since you are "rich" and can afford a much better placing you should pay for those who are less fortunate ...not because they are not able to pay for a tomb means dey can pay for a spot and later on have the bodies exposed like this

  9. OMG! And to think families pay so much money for a burial spot. There should be cemetery workers to take care of these things once they happen. If the cemetery is in that condition burials should be put on hold for a day or two while they take care of this matter. Disrespect
