Residents of the Goodwill and adjoining communities are requesting the urgent resumption of works to improve the Lindo Park facility.
This project includes the lighting, fencing and joggers track and is sponsored by the Australian Direct Aid through the Australian High Commission in conjunction with the New Zealand High Commission, and is managed by the Lindo Park Improvement Committee.
The commencement of the project was halted earlier this year by the government, who said the move was not political and that they will do whatever it takes to allow its completion as soon as possible.
The concerned residents said, “As significant as it is to us, it’s now more than two months after the halt, yet nothing is being done to bring this important project to reality.”
Residents from the area and elsewhere are expected to enjoy the benefits of the enhancement of the said facility which will not only promises safety, but more convenience to those partaking in their healthy lifestyles with regards to sports and recreation.
However, the project is at risk, because the funds could be recalled by the Australian and New Zealand Embassies.
“We therefore are asking you to help us get this project on stream and to stop us from losing access to the funds for the project by signing this petition,” the group said.
The petition has so far received 9 signatures. The petition need 1,000 signatures by July 18.
