PRESS RELEASE – In its continuous quest to ready itself for the challenges of building a new St. Lucia, the United Workers Party wishes to announce a change in its line-up of candidates for the upcoming general elections.

Endorsed candidate for Castries Central Mr. Peterson Francis has notified the party of his decision, after careful analysis, to stand down as a candidate, but to support, wholeheartedly, the party’s nominee to replace him in that traditional UWP stronghold.

Mr. Francis met with the top brass of the party and was part of a delegation that later met with and persuaded former Castries Central representative, Sarah Flood-Beaubrun to make a return to elective politics, and be the party’s standard bearer in the seat, she first won in 1997.

Sarah Flood-Beaubrun has remained very popular among residents of Castries Central over the years and was last evening enthusiastically received by members of the UWP Castries Central Campaign Committee.

She will later today be formally re-introduced to the wider party group in Castries Central by Mr. Francis, who will be at the forefront of her election campaign.

Political Leader of the United Workers Party, Allen Chastanet praised Mr. Francis for having first stepped forward, at a difficult time, to serve as a candidate and for now reaffirming his continued support for the party and especially for the election campaign of Mrs. Flood Beaubrun.

Mr. Chastanet said voters of Castries Central would be the ultimate winners, as both Mr. Francis and Mrs. Flood-Beaubrun are earmarked to serve in crucial positions in a new United Workers Party government.

The UWP Leader said he is especially pleased to welcome Sarah Flood-Beaubrun back to elective politics, as her vast experience would be of invaluable assistance to the party both in the campaign and as a senior member of its soon to be formed government.

Mr. Chastanet said the issues Flood-Beaubrun are known to champion, and which she feels very strongly about, are emerging as crucial in the ongoing general elections campaign.

A date for the official launch of Sarah-Flood Beaubrun as the party’s candidate in Castries Central will be announced shortly.

  4. The emperor kenny D Anthony now stands naked before Helen. Clothed only by bluffs and promises made but never kept.
Clothed also by grynberg, lambirds, IMPACS and Juffali.
Clothed also by a failed health system and a collapsed justice system.

Now calMAL at least Peterson appeared with Sarah at the press conference and expressed his support for her.
When kenny had kick out lacorbinere in 2006 for Vaughan Lewis la corbinere did not even know. It was by the CDC when he went campaigning someone whispered tbe bad news to him. La corbinere never supported Vaughn on the platform.

As for PEP notice when he made his press conference he did not have the pleasure of seeing the new candidate. Having kicked pep no way he going by SLP platform

  5. Now this I can refer to as political maturity one the part of Mr. Francis. Too many times, we have seen people behave like the typical man and woman relationship where one believes that if I can't have you or have it, then no one else should. In the case of Mr. Francis, he has shown that the party is bigger than him and believes in the bigger picture. For this, he has earned my respect and probably the respect of many more persons like me.

  7. Wasn't it that same Sarah Flood who said that the UWP cannot win under the leadership of Allen Chastanet? Then what changed? Did she suddenly wake up one morning and say 'oh i think Allen is a good leader'?

The more things change the more they remain the same. All these politicians want is power and that's it. It's about time St Lucians open their eyes and see that these incompetent politicians are not ready to serve the country but only themselves.

  12. Peterson made the right decision , UWP made the right choice and now SLP has all the right to be frightened. The bases are loaded with three tough women in castries and one in the south, maybe two.

  13. We need Sarah more than ever. Good choice.

    (16)(6)
  14. Well done Peterson. You have shown character because the polls show Sarah taking Central.
Richard Fredericks should support Sarah because she is fair.

  15. U ever hear such crappppp???

  16. Wasn't it Sarah who was going from door to door in central Castries area displaying her ever so enthusiastic empathetic politician face talking to persons in the area and giving children t-shits with her name n photo( Aunty Sarah) was printed on the front. The moment she won that seat on SLP ticket, she did what politicians do best after they win...disappear. What will make this time be any different???

I believe she is genuinely concerned about women's rights and she would do a FARRRRRRR greater job than this Reynolds woman. Plus she has balls to stand up to kenny that so many of the others have... yet still she's not truth worthy. That's a problem! Buuuuuut if she is going up against this goat they call Stanley Felix bro you're out. Trying paying your bills a year in advance cuz you not getting my vote again.

    (13)(27)
  20. Richard kick him and now he step down. Just when I thought he was a good candidate.

People seem to have forgotten when Sarah won the seat with SLP, every budget debate she said the most "previous government" in History.

    Why do we recycle politicians.

    (11)(5)
    • More than Phillip J Pierre??????...oh my she must have said a lot.

      (6)(4)
    • Welcome to Spider, Sarah, King, Guy, Ezeekiel and the whole lot. REcyle candidates who have made a career out of running for office. Think they playing, then think again. It;s what is in there that matters most to them not the people.
