(PRESS RELEASE) — Parliamentary Representative for Gros Islet, Hon. Lenard Montoute, on the morning of Thursday, August 13 held the annual back to school donation of school supplies to parents and students from schools within the constituency of Gros Islet.
“Every term that I have had to honor of serving as parliamentary representative for Gros Islet, I have made it my duty to provide support to parents, students and teachers in the form of the donations of much-needed school supplies ahead of the reopening of the new academic year,” Minister Montoute said.
“This morning’s donation to schools in Gros Islet included over 10,000 notebooks, 60 tablets (in addition to the 50 that have already been given out), 50 school bags to each school, lunch bags for all kindergarteners and Grade 1 students, and rulers, pens, sharpeners, crayons, erasers and glue sticks.
“As your parliamentary representative, I am fully aware of the challenges that most parents are facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic and this forms part of our efforts to ease the pressure that parents within the constituency face ahead of the new school year.”
The donation of school supplies will be handed to the Gros Islet Primary and Infant schools, the Monchy Combined School and the Grande Riviere Combined school.
The minister said the donation of notebooks will cover the needs of all the students at the chosen schools for the entire academic year.
