PRESS RELEASE – Plans by the Carnival Planning &Management Agency and Saint Lucia National Steel Bands Association are well under way to present Saint Lucia with an exhilarating 2014 Panorama offering, organisers say.
“The history of Pan Music in Saint Lucia is long and colourful, “lamented Director of Carnival Gabriel “Teddy” Francis. “It gives us great pleasure to continue Pan’s proud legacy with this year’s Panorama, ensuring the continuity of this deeply rooted cultural component of our festival.”
The competition will be presented in two portions, large and small bands. Participants in the large band category are as follows: Caribbean Metals Pantime Steel Orchestra, Courts Babonneau Steel Orchestra, Pan Ambassadors Steel Orchestra and Busta Emerald Steel Orchestra.
Participants in the small band category are as follows: Hamonites Steel, Orchestra (defending champions), Super J/IGA Survivors Steel Orchestra, Wilrock Laborie Steelpan, St. Lucy Steel Orchestra and Fast Cash Pantastic Music.
“This year’s Panorama promises to be an exciting one, filled with riveting performances and strong competitors, “ said Vernetta Paul, president of the Saint Lucia National Steelbands Association. “In previous years, there were clear front runners but this showing promises to be a thrilling battle peppered by close calls.”
Panorama will take place at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 8 p.m. Tickets cost $30 in advance, $40 at the door. Children below the age of 16 are eligible for a special ticket price of $20.
