Earlier this year a parent/past student of the Richfond Combined School died as a result of a tragic vehicular accident leaving behind three young children.

“In addition, several students come in daily without breakfast and the necessary materials needed for school.  Also, there are a few sickly students who are sometimes hospitalized and need assistance to lessen the burden of high medical bills. In light of this, a pageant was organized to facilitate a growing need within the school community/family,” said a statement from the school submitted to St. Lucia News Online.

Called the ‘Pre-National Day Pageant’, the event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 3 p.m.  on the school’s grounds.  The event is being organized by the staff and Parents Teachers Association of the Richfond Combined School.

Four parents, who are past students of this institution, have volunteered to participate in the pageant to help raise the much-needed funds.

The contestants are:

Sanna Jackson – Ms. Grande Riviere
Gemma Joseph – Ms. La Caye
Yolande Deterville – Ms. Richfond
Sylvia Octalien – Ms. Grand Ravine

Proceeds from this activity will be placed on a special account to start this fund.  Tickets for this pageant cost $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
