Leader of the Opposition Stephenson King has expressed his deepest condolences to the family, friends and people of the United Kingdom on the passing of former Prime Minister Baroness Margaret Hilda Thatcher.

King also expressed condolences to the British Conservative Party on the passing of their esteemed former political leader.

“Margaret Thatcher is remembered as the first woman to lead a major political party in the United Kingdom, first becoming leader of the Opposition in 1975,; and then Britain’s first female prime minister after successfully winning the 1979 General Elections,” King said.

Baroness Thatcher will be remembered for her distinguished service as prime minister from May 1979 to November 1990, making her the longest-serving prime minister of the 20th century in the United Kingdom.

Known for her tough economic policies, today referred to as ‘Thatcherism’, her no-nonsense approach to government and her handling of the Falkland Islands, she earned the title of ‘The Iron Lady’, which defined her style of leadership.

King also offered prayers for the family, friends and political associates of Mrs. Margaret Thatcher.

  1. Those who are backing Argentina in falkland dispute are mad. Read the history please. Argentina INVADED anther country who didn't want them. The UK kicked them out. Check the vote recently done by the islanders themselves.

All those criticising the UK - answer me this. Why are so many of you in the UK or trying to get over. Will you turn down the military assistance and aid the next time the wind blows your huts down?

    • you go read the history. what you call invade was an attempt to take back what england had stole. The vote recently done is bias cause the majority of islanders are of british decent cause it was stolen and colonized by england.

      • Anon, according to your logic, Argentina should also return the whole country to the Native Indians because they stole it.

  2. Anonymous I invite you to remove the red veil over your eyes. It is clear that the reference to the Falkland Islands in the Statement was the highlight the styles of Mrs Thatcher's leadership which earned her the title of "Iron Lady". Read slowly the following excerpt from the Press Statement: Known for her tough economic policies, today referred to as ‘Thatcherism’, her no-nonsense approach to government and her handling of the Falkland Islands, she earned the title of ‘The Iron Lady’, which defined her style of leadership. I hope I was able to help remove that red veil over your eyes. For example perhaps in time to come referring to Prime Minister Anthony's tenure as leader of our nation, it may be said: "His un-yielding and rigid posture during the Civil Service Strike of 2013 earned him the title: 'Insensitive Kenny". Enough said

    • He won't be revered as "insensitive kenny" (but rather shunned for it) and neither should Thatcher be revered as "Iron Lady".......... King made a faux pas. He could have commented her other positive attributes rather than her imperialistic ways.

  3. I greatly admired her, for the way she spanked Argentina...a lesson for those who like to bully 'Small Islanders.' Things will never be the same again.
I believe that she was the right leader at the right time, Blair would have just sold the islands and forget about the people living there, just like he sold the UK's identity to the EU/Germany for 30 pounds.

    • You admire her for what she did in the Falklands?! You just another brainwashed son of helen. I guess you would agree for England to come in here and claim that rat island and the maria islands are theirs! SMH in my opinion she and reagan were two imperialist dogs. good riddance!!

      • That so called Son of Man is tripping. You admire her for what???? When you claim you admire someone its because you understand what they stood for. That was the lady that said Mandela don't have the right to be free. Closed the UK to people from the Caribbean. Destroyed the Labour unions and forced poor people to suffer. Make your research and come back here again.

  5. Awa Move over King. I'm sure Gale wouldn't have made a blunder like that. With our history of colonialism we shouldn't be praising her for things like the falkland islands matter but no doubt she may have done other things right.

    • Gale....really!?! I have never heard that lady comment on any issue except her self. She only comes on television to talk about her tv shows or her books. She is never in the community. You clearly have no ties to the Constituency thats why you can make a statement like that. Gale is not a politician. SHe is in for a rude awakening if she contests her seat again. She stands for nothing but herself!

Thinking about it you are right, she would never make a blunder like that because she never talks about the issues "period" !!!

  6. Choops. Seriously King? Of all things why would you praise her for how she handled the Falkland islands? These islands were stolen from Argentina. smh.
