Leader of the Opposition Stephenson King has expressed his deepest condolences to the family, friends and people of the United Kingdom on the passing of former Prime Minister Baroness Margaret Hilda Thatcher.
King also expressed condolences to the British Conservative Party on the passing of their esteemed former political leader.
“Margaret Thatcher is remembered as the first woman to lead a major political party in the United Kingdom, first becoming leader of the Opposition in 1975,; and then Britain’s first female prime minister after successfully winning the 1979 General Elections,” King said.
Baroness Thatcher will be remembered for her distinguished service as prime minister from May 1979 to November 1990, making her the longest-serving prime minister of the 20th century in the United Kingdom.
Known for her tough economic policies, today referred to as ‘Thatcherism’, her no-nonsense approach to government and her handling of the Falkland Islands, she earned the title of ‘The Iron Lady’, which defined her style of leadership.
King also offered prayers for the family, friends and political associates of Mrs. Margaret Thatcher.
