The New York Police Department are searching for a suspect identified Joseph Kernizan in connection with the fatal shooting of 50-year-old Wayne Hamilton more popular known as ‘Captain Barkey’ and the suspect’s 36-year-old ex Tracy Bennett.
It is understood that Bennett had taken out a restraining order against her ex.
Captain Barkey and Bennett were shot dead as they left the Holiday Motel at 3 am yesterday morning in the Bronx, New York, USA.
According to the NYPost, a witness stated that he heard the woman begging for her life and heard 10 shots being fired.
It is understood that Captain Barkey who is married, flew from Milwaukee to La Guardia and went straight to the Bronx nightclub called ‘Memories’ where he joined up with Bennett.
The 36-year-old woman then took Captain Barkey to the motel before they were both gunned down.
Captain Barkey, an ex-soldier, was known for his popular dancehall hits, such as ‘Bun fi Bun’ and ‘Go-Go Wine’.
