Clerical, Sales, Technical and middle Management staff employed with Windward Islands Packaging Company (WINERA) will benefit from an industrial agreement concluded between the Company and the National Workers Union (NWU).

This agreement is the first on behalf of middle management staff employed by the Company and is of a three (3) year duration.

Workers will receive an average of about seven point five percent (7.5%) upward adjustment in salaries along with a new regime of fringe concessions. The new wage structure will be implemented in the company’s October 2014 wages bill.

This industrial initiative by the NWU is a positive thrust for middle management employees and gives the NWU the opportunity to represent two bargaining units within the company’s operation.

Windward Island Packaging Company operates from Vieux Fort and has traditionally produced cartoons for the agricultural, especially banana industry, and commercial sectors. The Company has made a tremendous contribution towards the economic development of the southern region.

WINERA is a joint venture owned by the Governments of Saint Lucia, Grenada, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Dominica and a Venezuelan Consortium. The Company and the National Workers Union (NWU) will meet shortly for the official signing of the new industrial accord.
