NWU submits proposal to SMJ Beverages St. Lucia Ltd

 Share This On:

The National Workers Union (NWU) has submitted a 30-point Memorandum of Proposals to the management of SMJ Beverages St. Lucia Ltd.

The proposals, which deal with overall working conditions, will be used as the basis for upcoming negotiations between the company and the National Workers Union.

Late last year workers employed with the Vieux Fort and Odsan-based company participated in a secret ballot poll undertaken by the Department of Labour.  The results revealed that workers had voted by majority to have the NWU as their bargaining agent.

The negotiations between the parties will commence in February 2013.

Meanwhile the NWU has submitted a recognition claim to the Department of Labour on behalf of workers employed with Saint Lucia Mortgage Finance Company Ltd.
