NWU submits 30-day notice of industrial action to Minister of Labour over dispute with WASCO

1143911766strike3PRESS RELEASE – The National Workers Union (NWU) has submitted a thirty (30) day notice of industrial action to the Minister of Labour, Hon. Robert K. Lewis.

The NWU has informed the Minister that the action will be taken by the employees of the Water and Sewerage Company Incorporated (WASCO Inc.) should WASCO continue the following:

  1. Non payment of Sick Leave to workers
  2. Non payment of Length of Service Premium on Annual Vacation entitlements due to workers

WASCO has also failed to comply with some requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Legislation. This has been going on for sometime now and the National Workers Union (NWU) has registered its concern with WASCO and communicated the same to the Department of Labour.
