Negotiations between the management of the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) and the National Workers Union (NWU) will commence at a meeting on Friday August 23, 2013.

A NWU press release states that the meeting will pertain to Grades 4-6 LUCELEC employees.

This gathering comes many months after workers “conclusively” registered the NWU as their preferred choice for trade union. Their decision was made by a secret ballot poll after the NWU submitted a recognition claim to the labour department on their behalf about a year ago.

The NWU has since submitted a memorandum of proposals in a draft industrial document which will guide the negotiation process, the release said.
