Nurses Association officially signs onto government’s wage offer, gets allowance for shoes

The Nurses Association met with the Government Negotiating Team (GNT) on Wednesday, April 3 to sign its collective agreement.

President Lydia Leonce said the executive is satisfied that it represented the interest of nurses during the difficult negotiating period.

The nurses  received a 4 percent general wage increase along with a benefit condition package. Included in there for the first time is an allowance for shoes.

The Nurses Association was the final public sector union, except for the CSA, to sign the collective agreement for the 2010/2013 triennium.

The National Workers Union is set to meet again with the GNT to iron out some outstanding issues. Chairman of the GNT Vern Gill expects the matter to be resolved and signatures affixed by the end of this week.

The Vieux Fort General and Dock Workers is also expected to sign within a day or two.
