PRESS RELEASE – In tandem with the activities organised by the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports in celebration of Youth Month – April 2016, the National Students’ Council has identified a few projects aimed at empowering youth, with the emphasis on students.
One of these initiatives is the Student Leadership Symposium slated for Wednesday April 13th, 2016. This session will be held at the Gros Islet Secondary School’s auditorium from 9:00am to 3:00pm and will bring together student representatives from all schools within districts 1 to 4.
The program perfectly embodies the organisation’s theme for Youth Month 2016 – “Giving students the drive to thrive”. Hence we have partnered with the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports as well as the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries in an effort to equip our students with the necessary skills to adequately represent themselves and the youth in their school.
The day’s program consists of activities centred around team building, public speaking and advocacy. It is the vision of the NSC to generate a sustainable students movement by providing regular opportunities of this kind to build capacity within the membership of the organisation.
