NOTICE: LUCELEC electricity advisory update

lucePRESS RELEASE – Saint Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) wishes to advise its customers in the north of the island that power should be restored by 4:00 pm, Friday, 6th November, 2015.

The only exceptions are some parts of Ti Rocher, as a result of a downed electrical pole in Cabiche, Babonneau, that crews have not been able to reach as well as parts of Jeremie Street where a transformer needs to be replaced. LUCELEC crews are on their way to deal with the problem but are experiencing delays because of traffic and flooding.

The motoring public will be advised as soon as crews remove the pole from the road. LUCELEC has also been forced to shut down electricity in the north of the island as a result of flooding at the Union sub-station.

Every effort is being made to restore power as soon as possible.

  1. When will LUCELEC relocate or raise the Union Substation which has flooded on at least two occasions namely in 1994 during Tropical Storm Debbie and in 2010 during Hurricane Tomas?
Which reminds me that the Dame Pearlette Louisy School was build on the banks of the Choc River when it was well known that that area is a flood plain.
