Nominees announced for 2013 St. Lucia Business Awards

Castries, St. Lucia – January 11, 2013 – The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture today announced the nominees for the 2013 St. Lucia Business Awards scheduled to take place on January 26, 2013 at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian Spa and Beach Resort.

With a significant increase in submissions over the 2012 awards the judges were able to determine three nominees in most of the St. Lucia Business Award categories. The nominees for the 2013 St. Lucia Business Awards are:

Prime Ministers Award for Innovation : Regional Communication Ltd ,Outsource St Lucia Inc, Baron Foods Ltd

Award for Service Excellence: 1st National Bank  St Lucia Limited, Admac Ltd, First Citizens Investment Services

Entrepreneur of the Year Award: Baron Foods Ltd, The Cell, True Value

Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award:  123 Digital, Blueprint Construction Limited (LLC), Outsource St Lucia Inc

Business of the Year Award: 1st National Bank St Lucia Limited, Baron Foods Ltd, Karib Cable, The Cell, Viking Traders Ltd

Exporter of the Year Award:  Accela Marketing Ltd, Bank Of St Lucia International Limited, First Citizens Investment Services

Award for Excellence in Human Resource Development: 1st National Bank  St Lucia Limited, Sandals Resorts International, SOL EC Ltd

Award for Marketing Excellence: Bay Gardens Resorts, Cable & Wireless, Windward and Leeward Brewery Ltd

Award for Corporate Leadership: Harris Paints (St. Lucia) Limited, Karib Cable, True Value

Award for Corporate Social Responsibility: 1st National Bank  St Lucia Limited, CIBC First Caribbean International Bank, International American University- College of Medicine

Green Award: Cartridge World St Lucia Limited, Windward and Leeward Brewery Ltd

Idea of the Year Award:  123 Digital, Baron Foods Ltd, Regional Communication Ltd

The adjudication process commenced with an assessment and review of the entire process which was used for the 2012 awards. With significant enhancements over 2012, including redesign of the application form, the development of new answer rubrics and an overall more structured review process, the judges were able to deliberate more efficiently and to establish nominees in all categories.

Final judging to determine the winners will take place over the next two weeks. The esteemed judges for the Business Awards are: Ms. Suzie D’Auvergne, Mr. Randy Cato, Mr. Eldon Mathurin, Mr. Andie George, Mr. Benjamin Menald, Mrs.Techla Deterville and Mr. Richard Peterkin.

Planning for the grand award is in high gear.

The 2013 St. Lucia Business Awards will be broadcast live from the Ballroom at Sandals Grande St. Lucian Spa and Beach Resort on at 9pm on Choice TV (St. Lucia and St. Vincent). Executive Director for the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture, Mr. Brian Louisy stated that “The 2013 St. Lucia Business Awards will be another outstanding event as we have seen many new entrants and candidates shortlisted. The public will be pleased to see many unfamiliar names in the running which we think shows the appeal of the awards to a wider cross section of the business community. ”
