Friday November 22 is St. Cecilia’s Day, the feast of musicians. This year marks the ninth anniversary of the musicians’ feast being celebrated in Barre Du Chauseé in the community of La Croix Maingot.
Organisers The Friends of Music are very proud of this tradition which started in 2004, where five bands played at a popular entertainment spot in the community called Top 5 Bar. Since then, this celebration has become an event that not only attracts people from the community, but from all over the island.
This year there will be a total of 14 bands that will grace the stage at View Top Bar in an open air atmosphere. In the true spirit of the celebration of the feast of the musicians, and the true community spirit of ‘Koudmain’, all the bands play gratis and are provided with refreshments throughout the evening.
The bands this year will include African Roots, Kodak, Forcast, Woulé Tété, Survival Steel, Locally Natural, West Coast Band, Top Notch Sounds, NS Band, X-Tent, Impact, Legal 4, Stage 8 and Rising Stars.
Admission is always free to this event and promises to be an evening of nostalgia as the genres of music will include Folk, Cadence, Reggae, Zouk and Compa that brings back the good old feeling of St. Lucia’s authentic roots and culture.
