New date announced for Inter-Commercial House Calypso

Thursday, July 18, 2013 is the new date for the 11th annual Inter-Commercial House Calypso competition.

The event was initially scheduled for Tuesday, July 9 but was postponed due to the tropical storm warning.

In a statement to the media on Thursday, July 11, Tyronne Harris, event coordinator and Cultural Development Foundation officer, said he looks forward to a “very energetic and exciting” event next week Thursday, July 18 at the National Cultural Centre.

Gates open at 8 p.m. and the show is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

“Tickets for the original show will be honoured on the rescheduled night. Tickets for the show are $30 and $25 in advance, and are still on sale at ticket outlets: Steve’s Barbershop and Sunshine Bookshop,” the statement said.

Twelve contestants from 11 commercial houses will be participating in this year’s event.

Royal St. Lucia Police Force – Marva Epiphane (Epee)

Water and Sewerage Co. – Alonso Felicien (The Mighty Dahger)

Royal St. Lucia Police Force – Nyasa Francis (Mooshi)

St. Lucia Distillers Ltd. – Allia Monrose (Allia)

Consolidated Foods Ltd. – Nadia Auguste (Nads)

National Insurance Cooperation – Sharon Alexander (Sha Blaze)

Guardsman (St. Lucia) Ltd. – Edgar Daniel (Edgar)

The Inter-Commercial House Calypso, launched in 2002, is part of the Lucian Carnival celebrations.
