New council appointed for Castries South-East

PRESS RELEASE – On September 10, 2014, a new Council was appointed to serve the Constituents of Castries South East.  The Council is responsible to develop and implement a programme of activities that will advance the development of the constituency and, in particular improve the lives of residents.

The Council will serve a two year term from 2014 to 2016 with the following appointed persons: Chairperson Eustace Monrose, Vice Chairperson Nilera Nze and Councillors: Eugenia Wilkinson, Andrea Gajadhar, Marvin Edgar, Frederick Jongue, Roger Remy, Mc Garret Magloire, Terrance Edward and Chrishna Paul.

In an effort to ensure that all residents are part of the development of the constituency of South East Castries, the newly appointed Council will engage in an extensive process of consultation with youth and sports organisations as well as churches, schools and businesses.

The Council will also hold a series of town hall meetings with residents. The main aim of these meetings is to find out the problems that confront residents and come up with logical solutions to these problems. The meetings are also expected to inform the plans and programme of activities of the Council for 2014 to 2016.

Finally, the Council takes this opportunity to inform the public of its first initiative which is a major clean-up campaign scheduled for November 28, 29, and 30, 2014.

The objective is to raise awareness about the importance of keeping the environment clean as well as to develop an appreciation for proper hygiene and good health.  The schools, churches and community organizations have already been invited to participate.

The clean-up campaign will take place in two communities which were affected by Hurricane Tomas and the Christmas Eve Trough. These communities are Bexon and Cul-De-Sac.

  1. This council is strategic, both in term of membership and period of appointment. It's no doubt designed to be a buffer, a smart disguise, a political campaign strategy for the next general election. Members have horns and the voters of Castries South East Constituency are the pawns!
