Special program highlights planned for the weeklong undertaking include deliverance prayers, group discussions, and song ministry by island favorites such as Shirley-Ann Cyril-Mayers. The program will also feature uniquely tailored messages delivered by dynamic Youth Pastor Rod Renee, currently assigned to the Castries SDA Church.
This years’ service is underpinned by a commitment by organizers to illustrate the power available to youth through prayer, and a desire to encourage youth to invest in a more fulfilling prayer life. And though it is an annual staple in the SDA calendar of activities, Youth Week of Prayer 2013 will see a specially blended program for Castries and L’Abayee which has at its core, the goal of uniting more closely the two church bodies in the work of youth outreach.
Speaking on the timeliness of the upcoming Youth Week of Prayer, especially well-placed against the backdrop of mounting economic and social challenges in recent times, Adventist Youth (AY) Leader for L’Abayee SDA Church Shem Beroo notes: “This program couldn’t have come at a better time- as a youth leader I can tell you that our youth have challenges that most wouldn’t imagine; on a daily basis I see young persons who are troubled by everything from low self-esteem and suicidal thoughts to prostitution, domestic abuse and abject poverty. Saint Lucia’s youth is really hurting…”
The special program schedule therefore is directed at reminding youth of help and peace available at the cross.
The program kicks off at the L’Abayee Seventh-day Adventist Church in the morning of March 9 and in the evening at the Castries SDA church, and closes with a joint fellowship service at Castries SDA church on the morning of Saturday, March 16, followed by Global Youth Service day activities in the afternoon under the theme “One in Compassion.”
