National Trust to hold meeting with Grass Street residents

PRESS RELEASE – The St. Lucia National Trust will be holding a community meeting on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 5 p.m. on the Grass Street Basketball Court.

The meeting aims to continue discussions between residents of Grass Street and environs and the Trust and its partners on the way forward for the Walcott Place Project.

The Grass Street community, next to which the Walcott home is located, is assisting with the beautification of the site. A formal committee was established to move this project forward.

The government had decided to develop a Walcott Heritage Site to honour the achievements of this family and their contribution to the Saint Lucian identity and national pride.

To this end, government has vested the childhood home of the Walcott brothers in the Saint Lucia National Trust directed the organisation to spearhead the creation of the Walcott heritage Site.
