National Telethon well on its way

Preparations are under way for the staging of the 2013 National Telethon, which is the biggest fundraising activity on the island.

The annual event will be held on Sunday, May 26 at the Gaiety in Rodney Bay, during which time private citizens and business owners will be encouraged to pledge financial contributions to the work of the National Community Foundation (NCF).

NCF Executive Director Madonna Monrose said organisers have done significant ground work to improve the event.

“We have a line up of Saint Lucian performers, some of whom are young and upcoming talent while others are very accomplished. I want to encourage Saint Lucians to come out and contribute whatever you can; it can be $5 but when we add it all up it goes a long way so whatever the value of the donation we appreciate it, and in the final analysis the NCF can have a very big impact on Saint Lucia and the population,” Monrose said.

The NCF uses the funds raised to serve the needs of various needy individuals and communities in areas of education scholarships and health care .

The event will be broadcast live on the National Television Network (NTN).
