PRESS RELEASE – The National Association of Libraries and Information Professionals (Saint Lucia) (NALIP) was formed on March 12, 2014, with the election of an executive body of Information Professionals.
The strategic goals of the Association over the next two years include:
1. A revision of the current Library Legislation,
2. Professional development and continuous training of members
3. Forming affiliations and partnerships with national, regional and international associations to help boost the local association.
4. Developing meaningful partnerships with our members.
To achieve these strategic goals NALIP has established five working committees; which are: Editorial, Fund Raising & Social, National Library and Information Week, Professional Development, Public Awareness & Advocacy. In addition to these committees, an Advisory Committee comprising experienced Information Professionals has also been established. Its main purpose is to provide technical advice in support of the Association and its mandate. The Advisory Committee will also act as a link between the Association, Policy makers and Professional Bodies.
A General Meeting with all Information Professionals will be held on December 3rd 2014 at the Central Library at 9 am – during which, the Association’s constitution will be presented by the Executive. In addition to the presentation of NALIP’s Constitution, membership to the Association will be formalized. NALIP welcomes membership from all Libraries as well as, Archives services, Museums, Government, Corporate and other Information Units.
Membership fees are to be paid annually and include:
Personal – $100.00
Institutional – $240.00
Associate – $80.00
Retirees – $50.00
Students – $20.00
