More than a dozen people sick in Micoud from food poisoning

chickenrotiAt least 14 people were treated for suspected food poisoning in Micoud last night.

Reports are that the persons fell ill after consuming roti and chicken sold by a vendor in the area.

The 14 persons were reported to have been treated at the St. Jude Hospital.

Some persons who were affected reportedly got first aid assistance at an SLP medical booth which was set up to service a nearby SLP event.

  2. Amazing Canaries.Right there in London you deduce that. The labour supporter was stabbed by a fellow labour supporter on the same bus. The lady selling Rotis was there in her 'I am a star' t-shirt.

  4. What is going on in St Lucia? Are people out to get supporters of the Labour party? Why are people serving food that is unfit for human consumption? Before someone serves food, they need to make sure that the food is properly cooked and ready to be served. The food must also meet the requirements set out by the health and safety board in St Lucia.
Imagine buying food to eat and ending up in a hospital due to food poisoning. There needs to be an investigation into how this person/s were allowed to sell such rotten grub. This is happening at a political rally of the party in power and I am beginning to wonder whether this was a deliberate attempt to silence or even hospitalise supporters of the party so they won't have a say in the political process - they will not be able to express their franchise come election day as they will be too ill to vote or worst taking the dirt nap.

Now there is another incident involving a supporter being stabbed on his way to a meeting. It looks like people are out to get the labour supporters come what may before June 6th. There is a lot of petty jealousy going on and people will resort to anything to see their party triumph. When this is not happening they will use whatever means at their disposal to do just that. This food poisoning incident is not an accident. If this involved one person I could understand, but this was not an isolated case. It involved several persons and the police need to get to the bottom of this. They need to investigate how this was allowed to happen. No stones should be left unturned in doing so.
The person/s who served the food need to be looked into and if possible have her food license revoked. We are dealing with people's lives. NO one should have to end up in A and E after consuming food served in outside establishments.

Just this week someone in the UK was sent to prison after his restaurant served food to an unsuspecting customer who had an allergic reaction to nuts. He was found guilty of manslaughter and given 6 years. I would not even begin to imagine what would happen if the folks who ate that food had all died as a result. What then? Would the authorities have taken any action? I empathise with all the victims and hope they make a full recovery and be restored back to full health. People need to be careful what they eat out there. The food safety regime should inspect every food establishment at random. They need to so so every day if possible so incidents like this do not happen again. We cannot afford to lose our citizens to food poisoning. No Way!

May peace reign during this election campaign. Let's hope that no other ugly incidents rear it's ugly head again. Everyone has a right to support their party and to attend meetings without fear and intimidation by others. This is an election and not a war.
    Peace and love St Lucia.

  5. People, believe it or not, the stinking toilets are still on the Micoud playing field. Our footballers are presently training to compete in the finals on Wednesday, and actually have to stomach that filthy stench. In addition, the field and court are in a mess with bottles, foam cups and boxes. Do you guys care about youth development and sports.
