PRESS RELEASE – Three more teams engaged themselves in warm up and promotional matches yesterday afternoon at the La Guerre Playing Field in Babonneau as they continue to fine tune their preparations for the upcoming 2014 Blackheart Knockout Football Tournament set to kick off on September 20th.
Last year’s losing finalist Babonneau, Marchand and South Castries were involved in a triangular series where each team played two 45-minute encounters.
First up was Marchand against South Castries. Marchand winning two goals to nil with a penalty from Percius Narcisse and another goal from Kennedy Joseph.
Marchand and Babonneau played to a one-all draw in the second encounter. Lynch Isidore converted for Babonneau while Lincoln Phillip was Marchand’s goal scorer.
In the final encounter Babonneau won over South Castries one goal to nil.
Meantime the second leg matches of the Northern and Southern play offs for the 2014 Blackheart Knockout Football Tournament will take place this week.
On Wednesday afternoon from 4.00 0’ clock at the Choiseul Playing Field, Choiseul comes up against Mon Repos. Mon Repos won the first leg in Mon Repos one goal to nil. On Thursday afternoon from 4.00 o’clock Anse La Raye and La Clery will meet. Anse La Raye won the first leg encounter two goals to nil.
The winner of both the Northern and Southern play off ties will meet in the playoff final at a venue and date to be decided by the tournament organizers to determine the 16th and final spot in the tournament proper.
