(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – It was very close.

Montessori Centre and Dame Pearlette Louisy primary schools were neck and neck in the 16th annual Grow Well General Knowledge Quiz, involving two of the brightest students from each of six primary schools in the Gros Islet District. The event took place on March 9 in the VIP Lounge at the Darren Sammy Stadium.

Kayla Samson and Alannah Bousquet of Montessori, smiling girls who answered in unison, and Dame Pearlette Louisy’s determined boys Deryn Leslie and Tre Philip were locked in battle. The boys quietly pulled ahead, but it was Montessori’s day, and with luck, pluck and brilliant teamwork, they prevailed to a shouting, standing ovation from their schoolmates.

More drama ensued. Bonne Terre and Grande Riviere were tied for third and it took four overtime rounds for Grande Riviere to pull ahead. Congratulations to Jeanelle Richardson and Makellah Charles of Grande Riviere; Arianna Mathurin and Micaela Parker of Bonne Terre; Roselle Duquesne and Amelia Rosemond of Monchy, and Nathan Etienne and Juanita Nathaniel of Gros Islet.

All contestants received prizes, compliments of The Landings the competition’s major sponsor, and from FLOW, Rainforest Sky Rides. Splash Island Water Park and Caribbean Cinemas, annual sponsors of Grow Well’s educational event.
