Mon Repos man found guilty of drug charges

A Dennery court today fined a Mon Repos man over $30,000 after he was found guilty of drug charges.

John William of Malgretoute, Mon Repos was found guilty on three of four charges.

He was fined $8,200 on the charge of possession of a controlled drug, to be paid by December 15, 2012 or in default spend 80 days in prison; $12,000 for possession with the intent to supply a controlled drug, to be paid by January 30, 2013 or in default 120 days imprisonment; and $10,000 for aiding and abetting a cultivation of a controlled drug he was fined, to be paid by April 30, 2013 or in default 90 days imprisonment.

The possession of firearm charge was dismissed.

William was arrested by the Drug Unit on a marijuana plantation at Fond Bleu, Dennery on Tuesday, October 26, 2010.

He had pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
