PRESS RELEASE – The staff and students of the Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School will be hosting the very first Ms SCSS pageant, on Sunday, December 4th, 2016.
The event is slated to take place at the Morne Coubaril Estate in Soufriere from 3 pm and is opened to the public. Tickets are $15 students and $20 adults.
Seven beautiful contestants, students of the Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School, will parade their talents in hopes of earning the title of ‘Miss SCSS 2016.’
The Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School has been in existence for the past 46 years as the only secondary school in District Eight (8), serving initially students from Canaries, Choiseul, Piaye and Soufriere. The institution was established in 1970 as a Junior Secondary School, and upgraded to Comprehensive Secondary status in 1978.
Over the years, Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School has faithfully met the needs of students in the District in the disciplines of academics and sports. SCSS won both the Under 19 netball tournament yesterday against the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) and Under 16 netball tournament last week against St Joseph’s Convent. The school has continuously excelled in the areas of debating, netball, cricket, basketball, track and field, and home economics.
Proceeds from the event will go towards school improvement projects such as a study gazebo, whiteboards, materials for our newly implemented Skills Training Programme and an online ‘extra’ teaching platform to accelerate learning for the academically inclined.
