Ministry of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport issues notice to motor vehicle operators

Peak_hour_traffic_in_melbournePRESS RELEASE – The Ministry of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport wishes to remind motor vehicle owners that it is an offence to operate a motor vehicle with a license number that has not been assigned to that vehicle.

All vehicle registrations must be kept up to date. Persons who are desirous of retaining a motor vehicle license number towards a future registration are required under, Statutory Instrument No. 33 of 2014, to pay the prescribed annual fee of $300 for reservation of a private motor vehicle license number.

In that regard, persons who are operating motor vehicles without the appropriate registration are hereby notified that not only is this an offence which carries a hefty fine, motor vehicle license numbers and registrations which have been inactive for over one (1) year will be cancelled and reassigned accordingly.

  1. Nonsense notice! Someone from MIPST woke up and decided to put out a notice to remind criminals? Next notice will be to remind rapist that rape is a serious offence?

    If you know people are doing it....set police on them..set up a wave of road blocks...get some revenue for the govt and make sure police are doing their jobs!

    Despicable from a youth's perspective!
