Micoud North residents benefit from free eye clinic

On Sunday 27th July, Parliamentary Representative for Micoud North, Dr. Gale Rigobert, in collaboration with the Cuban embassy, arranged for a medical team to be on hand to offer free eye examination to residents of Micoud

More than one hundred and eighty five (185) persons of all ages took advantage of the opportunity to have their eyes examined. According to Dr. Rigobert, the initiative arose because of the prevalence of eye problems especially among the elderly and also the need to provide this special health service to persons who are unable to afford it or who do not think they may have
any eye problems.

“I am very pleased with the turn out. I am anticipating that there will be many follow up health care programs like this one. Perhaps future clinics may include general health checks for constituents,” said Dr. Rigobert.

The Cuban eye team was overwhelmed by the response from the constituency. Persons requiring further medical examination and intervention were given appointments to visit Victoria Hospital where they will have the opportunity to visit the Cuban eye clinic for free.
