Ricardo St. Catherine, who has been on remand since 2006 for murdering his 18-month-old daughter Kayla Camille, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he was arraigned last week.
Disclosure has been ordered in this matter, and St. Catherine, who is from Anse Ger, Micoud, will return to court on March 18, 2013 for case management. The 32-year-old is represented by Attorney Daasrean Greene and remains on remand.
Kayla was brought to the St. Jude’s Hospital at about 11:55 am on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 by her father. Police said the child was experiencing breathing problems at the time she was taken to the hospital, and died at about 3:30 pm that same day at the hospital.
A post mortem examination revealed that Kayla died of internal bleeding in the brain and abdominal area caused by multiple traumas with a blunt object.
