PRESS RELEASE – In recognition of October as official “Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” Micoud Library will present a very special fundraising event to benefit the St. Lucia Cancer Society.

The gala event, called “Drink It Pink,” will be held in the Micoud Multipurpose Centre / Micoud Library building on Saturday, October 31 from 6 till 10 pm.

The “Drink It Pink” fundraising soirée will feature delicious finger foods and beverages, all in the theme of PINK —the signature color for Breast Cancer Awareness, recognized world-wide with the Pink Ribbon emblem.

Party-goers will enjoy sipping pink cocktails and juices (both alcohol and non-alcohol beverages), and a selection of delectable hors d’oeuvre will be offered as guests mix and mingle to soft cocktail music.

A new feature for the evening will be a Silent Auction, with many fine items up for fun ‘bidding wars’ throughout the evening. Party apparel in pink and/or black is encouraged.

Tickets for the “Drink It Pink” event are $50, available at Micoud Library. Tickets can also be reserved in advance by calling 454-4059.

This event, as well as a free Community Health Fair held in Choiseul Village held earlier in October, have a two-fold purpose: 1) To increase awareness and knowledge for members in the St. Lucia community who may be at risk for developing cancer, or who may have family and friends already stricken with the disease. 2) To help raise funds for the St. Lucia Cancer Society, which strives year round to educate all about prevention of the dread disease and to assist patients and families if they must battle the illness.

Donations for the Silent Auction are still being accepted. Any business or individual with services or products to offer are encouraged to contribute; the exposure could lead to a new source of clientele! For Silent Auction information, call 454-4059 or email [email protected]
