PRESS RELEASE – As part of its continuing community outreach campaign, the Micoud Ebenezer Seventh-Day Adventist Church will be staging a health fair in the village centre this coming Sunday, June 1, 2014.
The ‘Choose Full Life’ Health Fair will be held along the main street of the village, Philadelphia Row and will feature health services covering a number of vital and critical aspects of personal health.
The one day health fair which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. will offer the following services: health talks, free screening and counseling for Obesity, Hypertension, Diabetes and Cancer.
Free screening tests will include Body Mass Index, Body fat analysis, blood pressure, blood glucose, HIV tests, pap smears, manual breast exams, lung capacity and body fat analysis. Other than those test listed above, the following tests will be offered at discounted rates: Cholesterol test costs $15 and the PSA test (for prostate cancer) costs $30.
Residents of Micoud village and surrounding communities desirous of benefiting from cholesterol or fasting blood glucose test are asked to ensure that they do not consume foods or liquids – except water – from the night before.
These tests will be available from 7 a.m. at the Micoud Health Centre. In order to have their urine tested; persons should place some urine in a clean container on the same day and bring to the fair.
A range of Healthy Lifestyle books and vegetarian food products will be available for purchase at the fair. Residents will also be given the opportunity of donating blood to the Mobile Blood Bank which will be present.
