(SNO) – Two Saint Lucian secondary schools have been invited to the Netball Americas Champion of Champions High School Tournament, which will be held from Sunday, 15 July to Saturday, 21 July in Jamaica.
Micoud Secondary has been selected in Pool A, along with Christ Church Foundation (Barbados), Holmwood Technical (Jamaica), Dominica State College, Scarborough Secondary (Trinidad and Tobago), and Central Leeward (St Vincent and the Grenadines).
Pool B will include Soufrière Secondary, as well as Anglican High School (Grenada), N. E. Comprehensive (Dominnica), Toco Secondary (Trinidad and Tobago), Springer Memorial (Barbados) and Excelsior High School (Jamaica).
Micoud Secondary and Soufrière Comprehensive were the two top schools in the 2017 Schools Netball Tournament. Three-time local champion Soufrière is led by the magnificent Megan Nestor of Canaries, the tournament MVP and best attacking player, whilst Syanne Allain anchors the defense.
Micoud features the likes of Merkissa Theodule and Kiana Nelson.
With just over a month to go until the regional competition, both teams are on the fundraising trail, hoping to put together enough money to purchase plane tickets, uniforms and equipment ahead of this big test. Both teams will exepct to be well represented when Saint Lucia hosts the Windwards Islands School Games at the end of July.
