Men charged for burglary and handling stolen goods

POLICE PRESS RELEASE –
On Saturday, August 9, 2014, officers attached to the Gros Islet Police Station received a report from Thygeson “Penn” Joseph of Marisule, Gros Islet of burglary.

The report indicated that between 12:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on that day, a quantity of electronic items, computer software and hardware, perfumes, watches and jewelry amounting to approximately $30,000.00 were stolen from his dwelling house.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2014, a search warrant was executed at the residence of 29-year-old Garvy “Virus” Lawerence of Ciceron, Castries. During the search, a number of the items which were alleged to have been stolen were recovered. As a result, Lawerence was arrested and taken into police custody.

During the course of investigations, officers had reasons to arrest 32-year-old Esan “Sal” Houston of Trouya, Gros Islet and 29-year-old Severis “Soup” Tobierre of Hospital Road, Castries for the offence of handling stolen goods.

All three individuals were charged and appeared before the First District Court in Gros Islet on Friday, August 15, 2014. Lawerence was bailed in the sum of $5,000.00 cash or suitable surety whereas Tobierre and Houston were each bailed in the sum of $3,000.00 cash or suitable surety.

    • Firefly you must be one of those who buy stolen goods. You make it see as if Penn reported Soup for breaking into his home. Read the article above and you will see how ridiculous your comment is. A report of burglary was made. Police investigated and arrested burglar as well as two others.

  5. My only concern is that a lot of burglaries are fueled by those who are willing to purchase stuff for zombie prices. As the old adage goes "Ci ou pas ni suituez, ou pas ni voler." I'm just happy that the property owner got his stuff back. From what Iwa saying on the radio he was pleading for the stuff in particular the laptop to be returned. The laptop was unique and so who ever purchased it must have known that it was stolen. If I by a laptop from someone and see the the name of another person on it when I turn it on that should cause an alarm. Good work RSLPF.

  7. Lessons to be learnt I hope who should've been innocent learnt them and to them who are guilty should get stiffer penalty.

  9. Some ppl i tell you. This situation has nothing to do with Just4fun and Red . This could happen to anyone. The ppl who really know Soup personally would put that aside because of who we know soup to be .....some of us sit at our homes or at a desk working FOR SOMEONE waiting for the next story to jump off .....

  10. Handling stolen goods could mean that individuals were in receipt of the items. It could mean that the items were purchased, this is why we must be careful when purchasing items on deals which are too good to be true.

  11. As I've always said...I will not buy ANYTHING second hand from people. "If the deal looks too good to be true! It is!" Be warned!

  13. What a bunch of losers carrying those worthless nicknames. They did a number on the homeowner's property. Some of these people, have made it a business to burglarize workers who are out there trying to put bread on the table. That is a lot of value ripped off from that property.

I know a couple of youths who had a hard time finding jobs. They had a family member send them vegetable seeds from the U.S.and began planting stuff on government land. They took a beating during the drought; however, they are doing very well. What inspiration and ambition. Some idiots just look at other people stuff with envy.
