Men caught with sacks of marijuana on boat

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 at about 10:30 am, officers attached to the Drug Unit of the Southern Division intercepted a blue and pink fishing pirogue off Shanty Town beach in Vieux Fort.

The officers boarded the vessel. A search was conducted on it as well as its occupants. A total of five sacks of compressed marijuana were recovered.

The occupants on the said pirogue were 34-year-old Albert Leonce of La Tourney, Vieux Fort, and 35-year-old Winston Fortune of Monkey Town, Ciceron.

Both individuals were arrested and later charged for possession of a controlled drug and possession with the intent to supply a controlled drug.

They are scheduled to make an appearance before the Second District Court in Vieux Fort on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

  1. Good to seem them taking out the trash. There should be more government money for more policing and give them greater powers to get the job done. And better arm them.
