(PRESS RELEASE) – Mayor of Castries, His Worship Peterson D. Francis has showered high praise on and given exceptional credit to the Government of St. Lucia and the Ministry of Health and Wellness for undertaking the mammoth task of opening the Owen King European Union (OKEU) Hospital.
The transition from Victoria Hospital to the OKEU Hospital was done at end of March.
Speaking to the move, Mayor Francis says the development will positively benefit the City of Castries and by extension St. Lucia.
“I know that the Government had been working feverishly and putting structures in place to open the new facility. This is why when we received a call to assist in the transition we did not hesitate.”
Mayor Francis continued, “I wish to congratulate the Government of St. Lucia and the Ministry of Health and Wellness. It showcases the evolution of the Healthcare System and Healthcare in St. Lucia.”
“The contributions of our medical professionals are extraordinary. They work extremely hard with inadequate resources and by this opening the Government of Saint Lucia and the Ministry of Health complement that. We have endured some level of strain on our healthcare system, however, the OKEU transition should reaffirm assurance in all. As a people, we should have full confidence, as I have, in our Government to deliver. Believe that your Government is working for you. I have confidence that a lot more is on the horizon under the current Government, said Mayor Francis.”
