The Marigot Bay Water Taxi and Vendors Association is having a beach clean-up at La Bas Beach in Marigot Bay on Monday (August 17).
The group is being assisted by the newly formed Marigot Environmental Club and some volunteers from the Global Volunteers group, based out of the USA.
The clean-up begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues all day and also on Tuesday, if necessary.
Collectively there would be around 25 persons involved in the exercise.
President of the Marigot Water Taxi and Vendors Association Susan Beckwith said, “We have had support from various local businesses and private individuals as well as our local MP Dr Robert Lewis, but unfortunately not enough.”
She continued: “However, we will be doing our best, clearing rubbish from the Mangroves surrounding the Bay as well as the Beach itself to make it a cleaner, safer place for both locals and tourists alike.”
