The meeting is occasioned by the election of a new MASL executive.
Media owners and managers have a unique viewpoint on the great challenges facing the local media as it relates to revenues, programming, best practice standards and overall viability. For this reason, the MASL wishes to engage in discussion on areas of mutual developmental interest to all media organizations on the island.
President of MASL Clinton Reynolds says, “We recognize that as a fraternity, there are opportunities to collaborate in order to advance in the areas of training, recognition for media practitioners, professional forums and social interaction, among others, and we need the help of media owners and managers to get it done.
The meeting is planned for Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort and Spa. The theme is “Towards the Cohesive, Collective Power of Media”.
Reynolds says, “We hope to have an interactive exchange as the MASL welcomes alternative viewpoints on the best way to bolster the effectiveness of this unique and all-important entity. MASL is confident that, together, we can chart a new direction for media that is based on best practice, international standards and a more professional media.”
The MASL was established in February 2012, to replace the defunct Saint Lucia Media Workers Association. It is an umbrella body representing all media workers on Saint Lucia. Get more information at www.masl.lc.
