Police are investigating the shooting of a man in Grand Riviere, Gros Islet on Saturday evening, August 19.
Reports are that the victim, identified as 25-year-old Ivan Albert, a resident of Piat, Grand Riviere (Gros Islet), sustained gunshot wounds to his right arm and right side of his body after shots were fired from a vehicle.
He was transported to hospital via ambulance .
Sources say Albert is currently in “recovery… in stable condition”. He was scheduled to undergo surgery to remove a bullet today, August 20.
Emergency officials received the report at 9:05 p.m.
The incident reportedly occurred near a roti shop, between the Assou Canal gap and the Piat junction.
Grand Riviere has been the scene of at least three other shootings in recent months, including two homicides.
Law enforcement sources and residents blame the violence on gang rivalry and reprisals.
