A middle-aged man became the latest victim of an armed robbery on Wednesday, as gunmen held him up in broad daylight and made off with his vehicle in Vieux-Fort.

According to reports, the masked men who were armed with a firearm and cutlasses, attacked the victim at approximately 1:45 p.m. in the vicinity of La Tourney Mall.

Information reaching this publication indicates that the man was robbed of all his valuables and later driven by the armed men to a beach nearby, where they proceeded to assault him before tying him to a tree.

The man then managed to free himself four hours later, and reported the incident to the police.

Upon investigations the abandoned vehicle was later recovered at an old runway in Vieux-Fort.

  1. GET IT IN YOUR THICK SKULLS!!
    CRIME IS POLITICAL!!
THE SOLUTIONS TO CRIME ARE THEREFORE POLITICAL!!
IF YOU STILL THINK GOVERNMENTS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CRIME PREVENTION AND CONTROL, THEN WHAT DO YOU THINK NATIONAL SECURITY MEANS??

YOU EXPECT GOD TO PERSONALLY SOLVE CRIME? DO YOU EXPECT TO SOLVE IT FROM YOUR DINNER TABLE AT HOME?
OR DO YOU EXPECT CITIZENS OR THE CRIMINALS THEMSELVES TO DO IT??

WHAT DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU AGAIN FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND!!???

CRIME IS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN POLITICAL!!!!!!!

  2. Ezekiel 25:17 :
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

There is no substitute for a firm police presence on the streets and a common knowledge that justice will be served to its full extent. As the expression goes, "You an't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs."

It must also be recognized that the justice portion is only one portion of the equation for reaching a solution. The other piece is economic development and social outreach. People don't turn to crime by choice if there are opportunities for them and they feel part of a society.

  3. We are wasting our time commenting because de "Security Guy" is a big waste of time. This guy has been sitting in office for almost 5 years and what has he achieved? Really? When he came into office, he certainly knew there was a situation that had to be contained. Individuals carrying illegal weapons and using them to commit crimes. There is still no deterrence or dramatic apprehensions in 5 years. There is a huge back load of reprimand. The quality of life is being impacted...can't they see that. One last thing, this is an island that earns it's money through visitors. Tourism and crime does not mix very well. Remember Aruba!

  4. Another one again! These thugs know that the law can't protect citizens anymore, therefore it's the perfect opportunity to go rampant with committing these crimes knowing that they can get away with it. The only thing that will stop them is show them that we are not afraid of them and defend ourselves if we can. This so sad, it's depressing reading these news articles everyday.

  11. I am concern about these acts in Vieux Fort , I experienced an incident where a young man started to act up grab my food and tried to instigate a fight , he left and went for a gun , still do anything . I am not a push over but I am not going catch a murder case for the fool . I also have a friend who teaches down and he seriously considering leaving teaching after being repeatedly threatened by this young man .

Please people not political matter because I am sure I can get the same problem Gros islet , Castries , Babonneau and Bexon . It just seem to be more pronounced lately in Vieux fort.

Mr. Commissioner you know you have to put on the big boy pants and not only condemn but lay those ideas you have to curb this spate of stupidity .

    • They also brought him to an ATM and forced him to withdraw some funds. The bank's camera captured them so let's hope they can be identified.

  14. But just now.
That is the new style now?

These ........... getting too brazen now. We did not have these types of crimes before. That was taking place in other countries. Now the fools graduating to bolder things.

You'll already rob the man. Just leave. Why drive to another area, assault him and tie him to a tree.
What the hell is you'll point.

That is just sick. To me before was just a hold up and pass it, now is steal, kidnap, drive , assault and tie to tree.

Awa something have to be done. I feel these fellas viewing the police force as pappishow.

A small island like ours. Just now people will not even want to leave their homes. Hell are we even safe in our homes?
