The body of 52-year-old Victor Albert, also known as Indian, was discovered at about 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Albert’s post mortem, which was conducted on Saturday, Oct. 25, revealed that he died of “respiratory failure secondary to toxic ingestion”, well-placed sources told St. Lucia News Online (SNO).
The sources say there is no evidence to suggest that Albert was induced in consuming poison.
“There is no foul play surrounding his death…no marks of violence. The death appeared to be self-inflicted,” one of the sources told SNO.
Despite the outcome of the post mortem, police are still carrying out investigations into the death, the sources say.
Albert reportedly lived alone at Marina Road in Gros Islet town and cleaned fish nearby at the Fisheries Complex. He is originally from the south of the island.
