(AU NEWS) – The horrifying moment a man plunged to his death while taking a selfie has been caught on camera.

Ramjan Usman Kagji was picnicking at the famous Gokak Waterfall in the Indian state of North Karnataka when tragedy struck, according to the Times of India.

Footage captured by an onlooker shows the 35-year-old, who had reportedly been drinking, slipping off the side of a rocky cliff after venturing over the edge of the 167-foot high attraction.

The man was with his brother and some friends, who had allegedly told him to move closer to the edge to get a “better angle” on his selfie.

Tragically, he lost his grip.

Video of the shocking incident, taken on a smartphone, has since gone viral. In it, one of the men can be heard saying “he’s gone,” while a fellow tourist says: “We spotted him going near the edge. We warned him not to but he wouldn’t listen.”

Security around the waterfall has been tightened following the man’s fall.

His body has not yet been found.

  1. They weren't telling him to go closer to the edge for him to get a better angle, his friends wanted to get the better angle for the viral video afterwards.

    Savage friends.
