A 42-year-old man fell to his death from a coconut tree sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Nikelson Sadoo, 42, of Ti Rocher, Micoud was discovered dead by relatives on Wednesday afternoon.
A relative identified as Dona (only name given), told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) today that Sadoo was last seen on Tuesday afternoon at around 3 p.m. Sadoo lived with his mother.
The next morning, Sadoo’s mother discovered that he wasn’t at home. Relatives started to ask neighbours about his whereabouts, but no one seem to know where he was at that time. They became even more worried after he did not show up for the afternoon.
Later that same afternoon, his brother went on the farm to pick cucumbers and discovered Sadoo’s body at the bottom of a coconut tree with a rope tied to the waist.
“This is the normal practice when picking coconuts. You tie your waist to climb the tree,” Dona explained.
According to Dona, he may have fallen from the tree and injured his head, leaving him unconscious. There were clear indication of injuries to his head due to the impact of the fall.
Relatives said he was a friendly and hardworking individual. He sold coconuts for a living.
Sadoo leaves to mourn a 20-year-old daughter and his 67-year-old mother, among other relatives.

My heartfelt condolences to all the Sadoo family. RIP. We are all connected so I too share your loss. Bra, Florina step forward and continue to be a guiding light for the Sadoo.

Sad story. But there is a lesson to be learnt from this. Let someone know where you going and when going to do such work take another person with you.

To his family and friends, remember the good times he spent with you and never forget the great place he is going. R.I. P
This is really, really sad. My parents practiced telling each other about their whereabouts. If for some reason somebody doesn't return home, you have an idea where to start looking.
I believe it is important that when undertaking certain risky jobs, such as climbing a tree that another person should be present in the event something bad happens. Unfortunately, it's not always possible to have another person accompany you.
So sad.
