(SKY NEWS) – French police have arrested a man after he rammed his car through the glass doors of a terminal and onto the tarmac at Lyon airport.
The airport was forced to temporarily close its runway as police tried to stop him.
Officers said the car had come onto the runway during a high-speed pursuit by police cars and a helicopter as it drove in the wrong direction along a nearby motorway.
The driver eventually abandoned his car on the airport tarmac and tried to flee on foot but was surrounded by officers and arrested.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
All flights in and out of Lyon Saint-Exupery airport were temporarily suspended.
A police source said the man’s motives were not yet known.
