CASTRIES, St Lucia — At approximately 5:21 p.m. this evening, Therold Prudent placed a call to Mrs. Carol Delgado of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Consulate in New York to express condolences to the government and people of Venezuela on behalf of the Lucian People’s Movement.

Mr. Prudent, who described Mr. Chavez as a “tireless advocate for the poor”, says that his work for social justice will not die.

Therold Prudent is scheduled to attend President Chavez’s memorial service at a date to be announced.

  1. Normally a big fan of prudent but I'm afraid there was a fundamentally unpleasant side to Chavez. He subverted human rights and amassed a large personal fortune whilst claiming to alleviate their poverty.

  3. Chavez's socialism, like Cuba's, was too extreme, the man had gone mad and power was all he wanted...the Castro brothers are next. Good riddance and free Cuba!

  6. PM Kenny should read on his "friends" advocation for the poor and take a page from Chavez' book. I'm tired of seeing ministers at hotels or boarding planes - how about taking a walk through the streets of the city or through our slums that are splattered all over the island.
