Local cricket coaches get certified

By Terry Finisterre, Sport Correspondent

The Saint Lucia National Cricket Association, in collaboration with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), hosted a Foundation Cricket Coaching Course this week.

The two-day certification course for coaches at the district level was held at the Mindoo Phillip Park, and covered basic cricket skills. Over 20 coaches, men and women, participated.

The course, under the auspices of the WICB Education Unit, was facilitated by national coaches Bryan Calixte and Alton Crafton, with Phillip Service from Jamaica serving as the assessor.

Last month the local association held a similar course for 30 primary school teachers, Grassroots and academy coaches.

On that occasion the course was assessed by Irvin Warrican from St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Some of the coaches will be putting their skills to the test at once in the 50-overs club competition, which got underway over the weekend.
