A conference on Information Communication Technology (ICT) is due to open here on Thursday and it is aimed at helping the Government of Saint Lucia develop its own blueprint for development, utilizing new information technologies and systems.

The event which takes place at the Royal Saint Lucian Resort & Spa is being hosted by LIME in collaboration with a number of its ICT partners, including technology solutions providers Check Point Software, Mitel and Nortel.

It is one of a series of interactive forums being organized by the Caribbean’s leading communications company in Saint Lucia, Barbados and Jamaica, and they underscore LIME’s commitment to assisting in furthering the economic development of the region, and the deepening of Regional integration. They are being held under the theme “LIME, Partnering with Government for Success.”

The sessions will bring together government ministers and officials, top-level members of LIME’s local and regional executive teams, ICT system managers and equipment and internationally recognised solutions providers.

LIME Saint Lucia Vice-President for Country Operations, Chris Williams said the forums represent a continuation of LIME’s journey to better understand the needs of government and offer ideas and solutions to help the government integrate the latest ICT technologies into all aspects of its operations. LIME’s ultimate goal, he said, is to help the region’s governments modernize and transform the process of governance, increase efficiency and productivity and improve service delivery to the public.

“We have a 140-year track record enabling communications for government in all our markets,” said Mr Williams. “LIME’s mission is to provide the governments, businesses and people of the region with all the support they need to break the barriers to communication and help Saint Lucia and our sister islands gain a strategic competitive advantage in the global knowledge-based economy.”

He added: “Our strong worldwide alliances and global delivery capabilities, coupled with our proven products services, mean that LIME is well poised to deliver the performance, sophistication and service levels to help Regional Governments achieve their developmental goals. To this end, we will continue to invest heavily in our networks and develop dedicated teams to serve Government.”
