Residents of the Comfort Bay Senior Citizens Home will be able to watch holiday favourites like “It’s A Wonderful Life,” “A Christmas Carol” and even “Bah-Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas” this Yuletide season, a season made that much more wonderful thanks to LIME TV.
Saint Lucia and the Caribbean’s leading telecommunications service provider has given the Home two flatscreen television sets, plus free LIME TV service, including the Extreme and Movie packages, in perpetuity. As a result they’ll be able to enjoy over 150 channels packed with superb entertainment, including movies, news, sports, religious and educational programs, local and Caribbean content and more – all free of charge!
The Comfort Bay Senior Citizens Home is located at Black Bay, Vieux Fort. Its occupants include elders who were previously housed at the Malgretoute Senior Citizens Home. LIME held a presentation there on Wednesday. Along with the management and residents of the Comfort Home, dozens of invited guests, including Member of Parliament for Laborie, Hon Alva Baptiste attended the event.
“When we opened the home officially, we promised the residents they would get cable service,” she explains. “We made the request of LIME, and they responded immediately. Not only that, they have given us the full package, and that’s great, because this will now form part of the residents’ therapy, and it will be a blessing for the staff as well, after a long day at work, to be able to relax with such a wide range of programming.”
The Member of Parliament added his thanks as well.
“When you have good corporate citizens like LIME, you can do great things for the community,” he said. “Our senior citizens are the backbone of our Saint Lucian society, they are the ones who worked hard over the past decades to ensure that we have all that we have today. So the least we can do is take care of them and show them the love and respect they so richly deserve. It is exciting to see how willing LIME was to step up and take this project on.”
“Giving back to the communities, especially to senior citizens, is very important to us,” said Laurencia Cadette, LIME Head of Marketing. “With the Christmas season upon us, we thought this would be a great gift for the Home’s residents. They deserve it, and more, for their hard work and sacrifice for their families and communities, and for our country. We hope this gesture of our appreciation will help to make their stay as enjoyable as possible – and we wish them all happy viewing!”
Last month LIME partnered with the Micoud Police Station and the Micoud Lions Club to pay tribute to the senior citizens of Micoud and surrounding communities. Over the years the company has provided financial and other forms of support to the Marina Home, the St Lucy’s Home and Villa St Joseph.
